The Seven Sorrows
I. The Prophecy of Simeon
Simeon said to Mary,
“This Child is set for the rise and fall of many in Israel
And to your very own soul
A sword will pierce, as well.”

II. Flight into Egypt
The angel told Joseph,
“Take the Child and His Mother and flee,
To Egypt, for Herod has sent out,
For the Child, a fatal decree.”

III. Loss of the Child Jesus
When they found Jesus in the Temple,
His mother asked Him, “Why have You worried us so?”
Jesus replied,”I must be about My Fathers business.
Did you not know?”

IV. Meeting On the Way to the Cross
When Mary met up with Jesus,
Along Calvary’s way
Their sorrow for each other
Was more than words could say.

V. The Crucifixion
Mary stood beneath the cross
And witnessed her Son’s death.
Her heart so overwhelmed with grief,
As He drew His final breath.

VI. Taking Down Off of the Cross
As Mary received The body of Jesus,
Her sorrow knew such depth
As she held Him in her loving arms
And kissed Him as she wept.

VII. The Burial of Jesus
When they prepared Him for burial,
This Child from Marys womb,
Her heart was completely broken
As they sealed Him in the tomb.
